1788 - Christian Augustus Siebe, known as Augustus Siebe, was born in Prussia.

1790s - moved to Berlin with his family.

1819 - married Susannah Glidden (1796-1856), and founded Siebe and Co.

1827 - Siebe developed the 'Closed' diving helmet with Charles Anthony Deane, adapted from Deane's earlier design of a smoke helmet for firefighters.

1829 - located to 5 Denmark Street, Soho.

1830 - with Charles Anthony Deane and his brother John Deane, developed a complete diving apparatus.

1851 - exhibited several technologies at the Great Exhibition, including a fire engine pump, a diving machine air pump, and a self-acting water supply or steam-boiler feeder.

1868 - his son Henry Herepath Siebe and son-in-law William Augustus Gorman took over Siebe and Co following Augustus Siebe's retirement. The name later changed to Siebe and Gorman; Siebe, Gorman and Co; and Siebe Gorman Ltd.

1872 - Siebe died at his home on Denmark Street.
