1857 - taken into his father's ship building company as a partner. 1862 - became sole owner of his father's company. 1876 - started a group called 'Yachting Lloyds', a group of yachstmen who formulated rules for the regulation of construction. 1878 - the first Lloyd's Yachting Register published.
