Francis Fickett 1798
Oct. 7, 1798 - raised at Stroudwater, Maine, United States and learned his trade in the shipyards of his father. Went to New York and successflully established himself in business; 1818 - based in Corlears Hook, New York; built the paddle steamer 'Savannah';
became an alderman of NY city, and was prominently active and energetic in the relief and help of the poor who suffered from the colera epidemic of 1832. He died in early middle life.
