Owned by the Midland Railway; after nationalisation in 1947 the hotel was under the administration of the British Transport Commissions Hotels Executive until 1953, by the British Transport Commissions Hotel and Catering Services between 1953 and 1962 and then British Transport Hotels Ltd until its sale in 1983.
