1811 - awarded the silver palette of the Society of Arts for a drawing, The Good Shepherd. 1814 - mezzotint engraver Samuel William Reynolds employed him as an apprentice, without the usual premium. 1826 - published his first two plates independently: Master Lambton and Lady Ackland and her Children. 1835 - elected an associate engraver of the Royal Academy. 1855 - had the distinction of being one of only two engravers to be elected Royal Academician. 1872 - deposited at the British Museum an almost complete set of his work. 1884 - retired from the profession.
