Born in 1926 as Princess Elizabeth of York, she became the heir presumptive of the British throne in 1936, when her uncle Edward, Prince of Wales, abdicated and her father became King George VI. In 1952 she became Queen, and reigned until her death in 2022, becoming the longest reigning British monarch and the longest reigning Queen in history. During the Second World War, she served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, and trained as a driver and mechanic.
Elizabeth II sent her first tweet on the social network site twitter in 2014 from the Science Museum at the opening of the Information Age gallery. In 2019, she shared her first Instagram post from the Science Museum, at the opening of the Top Secret exhibition.
