Denny & Company, were a subsiduary of Wm Denny and Brothers Ltd, shipbuilders, and were marine engineers;

1844 - Wm Denny & Brothers founded by the Denny brothers including William Denny (d. 1854) and Peter Denny (1821–1895); based in Dumbarton; shipyard situated on the Leven near the junction of the River Clyde and the River Leven.

1850 - Peter Denny (1821–1895) went into partnership with two engineers, John McAusland and John Tulloch, to form the marine engineering business of Tulloch and Denny; this operated in parallel with, but independently of, the shipyard

1862 - renamed Denny & Co.

1883 - world's first commercial example of a ship testing tank (now part of the Scottish Maritime Museum)

1918 - William Denny and Brothers and Co was combined with Denny and Co to form William Denny and Brothers Limited.
