Wm Denny and Brothers Ltd were shipbuilders; Denny & Company, were a subsiduary, and were marine engineers;
1840 - founded by Willliam Denny (d. 1854), Peter Denny (1821–1895) and James Denny; based in Dumbarton, on the River Clyde. Peter's son William Denny (1847–1887) joined the firm and took over managing the business from his father.
