1920 - Joseph G Wright & Thomas G Weaire form incorporation as a private company; located at 740 High Road, Tottenham, London; by 1937 - manufacturing electrical instruments; Wright & Weaire retired after WW2; 1945 - factory at South Shields; 1948 - their first tape deck produced, known as the Ferrograph; 1949 - manufacturing activities transferred to a new subsidiary Wright and Weaire Ltd, the British Ferrograph Recorder Company, of South Shields; 1955 - Wright and Weaire was converted into a public company and acquired the share capital of Ferrograph; 1958 - name of the company changed to the Ferrograph Company Ltd; 1959 - Ferrograph was absorbed by the Wilmot Breeden Group; 1977 - the National Enterprise Board arranged Ferrograph and North East Audio Ltd (NEAL) to join up; 1981 - company passed into Receivership; NEAL is now part of the Canford Group
