1804 Chubbs started as a ship's ironmonger, established by Charles Chubb in Winchester
1818 - company founded by Charles and Jeremiah Chubb in Portsea, Hampshire and then moved into the locksmith business in Wolverhampton with a purpose built factory on Railway Street.
1835 - manufacturing burglar proof safes
1836 - company moved to London
1837 - opened their first safe works at 27 Cowcross Street, close to Smithfield Market in London and a safe factory in Glengall Road, Old Kent Road, London.
1851 - located in St. Paul's Churchyard, London; 68 St James Street, London SW
1896 - subsidiary companies established in South Africa and Australia
1914 - Chubb and Sons Lock and Safe Company of 128 Queen Victoria Street, London, EC
1947 - Chubb and Sons Lock and Safe Company of 40-42 Oxford Street, London, W1
1951 - incorporate as a private company Chubb and Sons Lock and Safe Company Limited
1956 - acquired Bob Hart and Co Ltd., the lock and safe maker
1965 - acquired Josiah Parkes and Sons, lock makers.
1967 - acquired Pyrene Co
1984 - The Chubb & Sons Lock & Safe Co. Ltd. was taken over by Racal Electronics Group. Chubb continued under the registered name of Chubb & Sons Lock & Safe Co. Ltd.
1986 - Racal acknowledged the strength of the Chubb name by renaming the whole group of companies Racal-Chubb Products Ltd.. 1992 - de-merged from Racal to form Chubb Security PLC
1997 - sold to Williams Holdings PLC
2000 - Assa-Abloy, a Swedish-based lock manufacturer, acquired Chubb’s Lock Security Group.
2000 - de-merged from Williams to become Chubb plc.
2003 - acquired by the United Technologies Corporation
2006 - merged into the Mul-T-Lock group within Assa-Abloy
