1944-47 - served in RN as a Sick Berth Attendant, including detached duty in a Landing Ship Tank. 1954 - graduated from Edinburgh University MA Hons Economic Science. 1955-58 - worked as salesman then sales manager for W&M Duncan Chocolates. 1958-62 - worked for PA Consultants (Marketing). 1962-1985 - worked as marketing director for W&M Duncan Chocolates. 1973 - won the Bronze Medal and the H.V. Evans Trophy at the Model Engineer Exhibition for his model of an Egyptian ship (object 1974-63). 1974 - awarded the bronze medal at the Model Engineer Exhibition for his model of a sea-going ship of King Sahure, mid 24C B.C., famed for being dissembled and taken in pieces from the Nile to the Red Sea and back after its expedition to collect myrrh, gold and ebony from Punt. 1975 - received a Certificate of Merit from the Model Engineer Exhibition for his model of a Nile trader of the 6th Dynasty, with the capability of beaching like an LST with a v-shaped hull. 1980 - completed a PhD at Brunel University in Cybernetics. 1985-92 - was Professor, Managerial Information Systems and Control (Dept. of Accounting and Business Management) at the University of Edinburgh.
