1816 - Eliphalet Remington starts to manufacture flintlock rifles, Ilion Gulch, New York state. 1828 - Remington moved its operations from Ilion Gulch to a site close to the newly constructed Erie Canal. This site, in Ilion, New York, is part of the property on which the Ilion firearms plant sits today. 1865 - The partnership of E. Remington & Sons was incorporated. 1888 - E. Remington & Sons is acquired by Marcellus Hartley and partners, and the Remington Arms Company is formed.
