The legend of St. Barbara tells that she was shut up in a tower by her father in order to protect her from the outside world. She secretely became a Christian, and eventually faced torture and beheading from her father because of her religion. One of the fourteen Holy helpers, she became the patron Saint of artillerymen, currently venerated by anyone who is threatened by the possibility of sudden death at work.
