Opened in 1847 and then closed in 1966 to passengers and 1972 to goods. Purchased by the Peterborough Development Corporation in 1974 and re-opened in 1977.

Sheet of stamps, paper, Nene Valley Railway Tenth Anniversary. Issued to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Nene Valley Railway in 1977, designed by Ed Roberts and printed by Fisherprint. Sheet consist of 9 20p stamps, 3 depicting Swedish Class S no. 1178, 3 depicting French Nord Class 3500 no. 3.628 and 3 depicting Battle of Britain class '92 Squadron.' The surround of the stamps bears the legend 'Railway letter stamps issued by Nene Valley Railway Ltd. for the carriage of letters as agent for the Post Office.' Also four 25p stamps featuring 'City of Peterborough' marked 'Nene Valley Railway Railway Letter Fee' issued to raise funds (5p of each stamp) for the Nene Valley Railway's Extension Fund.
