Original Act of 23 June 1864 authorized a line from Whitlingham Junction to North Walsham only; another of 27 June 1872 empowered the 22 miles to Cromer. Another extension of 9 miles from Reepham to County School was authorized on 3 July 1879. An Act of 16 July 1874 gave the GER operating powers between Norwich and North Walsham, and the company was absorbed by an Act of 3 June 1881, from 3 August.
