The Great Northern and Great Eastern Joint Railway was formed in 1879 and connected Doncaster and Lincoln with March and Huntingdon. The Joint Committee controlled this railway made up of five directors each from the Great Northern Railway and the Great Eastern Railway. When the railways were grouped into the big Four in 1923, both the Great Northern Railway and Great Eastern Railway joined the new London and North Eastern Railway, making the Joint Railway and Committee defunct.
