Authorised on 13th August 1859. Opened 2nd March 1863 jointly owned by LNWR and GWR and LSWR and LBSCR. Broad gauge railway was removed in 1890 and service to Victoria ceased 1866. The passenger service closed in 1940 but it is still used for goods
