Whole model, scale 1:24, of the early paddlewheel steamboat the P.S. 'Charlotte Dundas' (1801), by the Science Museum Workshops, South Kensington, London, England, 1903. The model was based on a model lent to the Science Museum by W. H. Rankine. The actual P.S. 'Charlotte Dundas' (1801) was designed by William Symington and used on the River Forth and Clyde Canal.

Early serial number dates this object to between 1903 when the Marconi Company began to make the magnetic detector and 1907 when a magnetic detector with a later serial number held by the Museum of the History of Science, Oxford is dated.
