Model of the Harwell controlled Zero Energy Thermonuclear Assembly (ZETA), scale 1:24, by Miniature Engineering (London) Ltd., London, SW1, 1958. With perspex shade made in Museum workshops. On 24 January 1958, UKAEA scientists claimed that thermonuclear fusion had been achieved in the ZETA experimental fusion reactor but these claims were later withdrawn. (Note: ZETA is sometimes incorrectly expanded as Zero Energy Thermal Apparatus). (Controlled fusion of atoms)

Dux Kino projector, Model 44. Projector for 35mm film strip carrying two horizontal rows of cartoon pictures with alternate phases of motion. Projected alternately by oscillating shutter operated behind two projection lenses. Serial No 568 on base, trade mark in gold on top of projector body. Sliding plate with fittings for two lenses which are missing. With double spring clockwork motor, adjustable speed. Direct vision optical viewfinder with spirit level and footage indicator visible, parallax compensated rear sight.
Mansfield Bronchoscope, 1950s. Used for inserting into the lung surgery tubes (1999-792) so that the anaesthetist can look down the trachea and see the carina and so insert the tube down the correct bronchus. Ruth Mansfield was an anaesthetist at the Brompton Hospital and died in about 1994.
