Half set of gold electrodes made at the Burden Neurological Institute in 1962. The electrodes were implanted in the right frontal lobe of a patient. There are two sheaves each of 4 electrodes (light gold in colour) and 4 sheaves of 3 electrodes (dark gold). Stitches anchor the bundle to the scalp. Cotton tape on the socket was tied to a stainless steel wire looped to another loop through the skull to prevented the patient pulling the wires out.

National Panasonic Super Sensitive 10 Transistor R-307, by Panasonic, Japan, c.1963 This is a rare short-wave radio receiver with a leather case, made by Panasonic in Japan in the early 1960s. Made and sold in the Far East, this three-band radio was one of the earliest such short-wave receiver to bring affordable long-distance listening to the public in an easily portable form. Developed for the Far Eastern market where radio broadcasting and listening were often strictly controlled and hence demand for long-distance reception was high, there were no comparable devices available in Britain in the early 1960s.

The antenna for these sorts of vehicles was initially attached to cars but, due to practicality, later was fixed to vans such as this Dodge Commer Van. Through lens automatic exposure control; +1 stop backlight setting. Direct vision optical finder with lowlight warning; focusing eyepiece. Linear footage scale. Film speed sensors. Integral folding handle. Powered by three 1.5v AAA cells. Provision for accessory battery boost pack. Manual zoom control. Slot for movie light or key to remove daylight filter. The film transport, common to all in the range, is mounted on a die-cast inner frame and the camera is made of glass-reinforced plastic in two-tone grey. This is an example of the top of the range of the Kodak Instamatic Super 8 cameras introduced in May 1965. In rigid foam-lined carrying case.
