Kodak XL55 Super 8 ciné camera, for Super 8 cartridges; Kodak Ektar Zoom lens, F:9-21mm f/1.2, focusing. Auto expopsure 9, 18 fps, electric drive; electric zoom option. Takes 4 AA batteries (removed). Automatic exposure and the direct-vision optical viewfinder is at the side. The Kodak XL55 Super 8mm Camera was one of the first Kodak Super 8 cameras to incorporate the 230 degree shutter and fast f/1.2 lens that when used with the (then) highly sensitive Ektachrome 160 filmstock allowed filming in very low light levels - the marketing suggested this was possible in candlelight. The XL55, like the simpler XL33, is of unconventional design and is held by its sides. The film cartridge is inserted at the rear of the camera.

Card sorter by International Computers & Tabulators, British, 1967. Used at the Institute for Social Studies in Medical Care. ECD - The handling of data is a major part of experiments in public health that follow the experience of large numbers of people. Until the 1970s, data was coded on to individual punch cards which were then analysed using tabulators or by hand. This card sorter was used at the Institute for Social Studies in Medical Care for over twenty years. The Institute carried out surveys of general practice, maternity services, the needs of the elderly and other groups, and attitudes to death. The results of individual surveys were on punched cards and sorted by machine into each pocket on the side to generate results for analysis.
