Europa 2001: Vattnet en Naturrikedom = Water, a Natural Treasure. Set of 4 stamps each 7kr, issued by Posten Frimarken, Sweden, 22 March 2001. Folder 9.8x6.3cm unfolding to 19.4x6.3cm. 'Europa' for use to elsewhere in Europe, also with 1st class stickers. Sweden held Presidency of the European Union January-June 2001. Environmental pollution a high profile issue for Sweden; these stamps commemorate the 'recent' [1990s?] EU Water Framework Directive to ensure availability of cleaner water in Europe. Stamps include Swedish watermap and pair featuring locks of the Trollhatte Canal

Commemorative Cover for the Royal Festival Hall 1951-2001 50th Anniversary celebration, issued 3 May 2001. No. 96 of a limited edition. 11x22cm. Including affixed, two mint original stamps from the Festival of Britain 1951: 2 1/2d red, with head of Britannia, cornucopia and caduceus, designed by Edmund Dulac; 4d blue, with Festival of Britain 1851-1951 logo designed by Abram Games. Special postmark franking by Royal Mail touches on two other, pictorial stamps, The Planets Suite [planets] / Gustav Holst and Sea Pictures [whales] / Edward Elgar, revised from 1985 issue. Each illustration is an enlargement of the final state artwork featured in Royal Mail stamp issue 'Buses' of 15 May 2001, each with text description on reverse. The Science Museum's Guy Arab MkII, illustration no.6, is pencilled below l, 'Corrected Image Royal Mail' and signed below r. in pencil by Michael English, artist-designer; with adhered label reverse: 'please note: printing faults in this lithograph have been hand corrected by the artist. Please treat it as original artwork.' signed in ink, Michael English.
