Dial from Parson's steam turbine generator. Round dial face in cream colour, with inscription 'Bourdon's Pressure Gauge Improved' and 'C.F. Wright Birmingham'. Dial face with glass cover and in brass coloured fitting. Pipe protruding from bottom of dial with handle, and looped copper pipe. Bottom of pipe in dark coloured metal which has split towards bottom.

Before lens shutter for 40mm screwed lens mount, oval shape with two sliding plates with semi circular ends. With a pneumatic release valve, time stops, iris diaphragm before shutter calibrated at 10-30. Lancaster, 1894.

Solar spectroscope with stand and two mahogany boxes by T. Cooke and Sons, York, England, 1881. Used at the Solar Physics Observatory, South Kensington between 1881 and 1912. The set of prisms give a high dispersion equal to 20 prisms, by passing the light through the prisms train four times.

AJAX toaster, made in Japan in the late 1970s or early 1980s, used in Greater Manchester, one of the first of its kind to be imported into the UK, the design includes the unusual feature of a clockwork timer, rather than an automatic pop-up mechanism, meaning the toast could be put on for a precise ammount of time and preventing burnt breakfast.
