Box for cinchona bark, known as a Coracha, wood and rawhide, with contents, brought from Peru by the expedition of Ruiz and Pavon, 1777. Accompanying label reads, 'CORACHA' OF LOXA BARK OPENED, SHEWING CONTENTS AND/ METHOD OF PACKING./ ONE OF THE ORIGINAL 'CORACHAS' BROUGHT TO SPAIN/ FROM PERU BY THE EXPEDITION UNDER RUIZ AND/ PAVON SENT THERE BY CARLOS III OF SPAIN/ IN 1777./ PRESENTED BY HIS MAJESTY KING ALFONSO XIII/ OF SPAIN, 1930.
