Metal tube of carron oil, formerly used to treat burns, with metal screw-top cap. Brown exterior printed with inscription reading 'Carron Oil (Solidified)'. Distorted in shape, with some of the contents spilled out onto the base of the first-aid tin. Stored in giffy bag not original to the object, which is stuck to the base of the first aid kit. Stored inside the first aid kit, used by Rear Admiral R.E. Byrd on exploration flight to the Antarctic, 1930. Made by Burroughs Wellcome and Co., United States, 1928-1930.
