There are 19958 drawings, diagrams and sketches of railway carriages, wagons and their components. They range from late Victorian examples, through adaptations for both the First and Second World Wars, to examples from the last years of steam railways and early diesel hauled railways. There are a significant number of examples from the Liverpool area electric railways, of wartime ambulance vehicles, as well as information about carriage fittings and furnishings.
