Handwritten letter from L. Pasteur [Louis] to A. W. Hofmann commenting on the news that Perkin and Duppa had converted succinic acid to tartaric acid, together with his doubts about this. He offers his services to study the acid and asks Hofmann if he would act as an intermediary. Sent from Ecole Normale Supérieur, Université de France, Paris. Includes a typed, draft translation of the letter.
