My dear Sir

The carp was [“were” is written above “was”] not
ripe – leave them in the pond and try them
once a week until
the eggs come out like
shots out of a shot
belt – It is much too
late this year to obtain
spawn but I will let
you more about it
next.

Yours most
obedient
J Buckland

K. R. [?] Cook Esq.
