The letter gives news of Trevithick's son Richard who is ill but improving. Reference is made to an article in the Falmouth paper which describes the trial of Trevithick's steam powered carriage. Further news from the same paper is given concerning the increase in population of Camborn Parish and also a fracas resulting from the church clerk, sexton and organist getting drunk. The letter concludes with a reminder of arrangements to be included in an agreement regarding the use of a 'new engine'.
