A letter concerning an eclipse expedition to Aswan in 1905, in which it states: “The general and emphatic impression made on the beholder is that Captain Lyons has quite exceptional powers of initiative and direction, which should enable him to command success in any work of administration which he felt he could undertake. He is, I understand, a candidate for the Directorship of the Science Museum at South Kensington …”.
