Combined tweezers and lancet, made of steel. from Kordofan, Sudan, 1850-1908

This instrument (samandia) was used for all minor operations, such as bloodletting, scarring, opening abscesses, removing thorns etc. It was frequently carried in the sheath of a Kordofan knife.
