Artificial leg for amputation just above right ankle, 1891-1930
This artificial leg looks like a leather boot laced to the knee. It was actually designed for someone who had their right foot amputated just above the ankle joint. The wooden foot and ankle are jointed and can bend. The remains of the lower leg are supported by the strong steel bar.
