Dr Paul Ferdinand Gachet (1828-1909) was a French physician who specialised in mental health. Gachet was also a patron of the arts, becoming a close friend of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) and later his physician.

Plagued with mental health problems, van Gogh lived with Gachet in Auvers-sur-Oise, France, from May 1890 until his suicide in July of the same year.
