Glass, bottle shaped female urinal, 1701-1730

This is one of a pair of explicitly shaped female urinals. Little is known about the origins of this particular example, but such portable urinals would have been owned by wealthy women at a time when few hygienic toilet facilities would have been available outside of the home. They were particularly useful on long coach journeys.

It is shown here with another unusual example of a female urinal (A641103).
