One souvenir medallion commemorating Henri Giffard's balloon ascent in 1878, Exposition Universelle, Paris. Gilt metal; 36mm diameter; with ring and suspension bar, length 65mm. Obverse showing: legend, Panorama de Paris 1879; scene of Giffard's tethered balloon over view of Paris. Reverse legend: Souvenir de mon ascension dans le grand balloon captif a vapeur de Mr. Henry Giffard.
