Medal, commemorating the Montgolfier balloon flight 'Le Flesselles' with seven persons, at Lyon, France, 19 January 1784. Bronze; diameter 42mm, thickness 4mm. Rim legend: Bronze. Obverse legend: Que ne peut le Genie. Medaille frapp. en vertu d'une souscript. Faite a Lyon par les soins de M. a chet ecuier otf. de Monsieur Frere du Roi. - Scene, shows gantry to left, balloon in clouds; a winged lady [Genius] on lion's back, writing on tablet. Artist signed: N. Gatteaux F. [Nicolas Marie Gatteaux, 1751-1832]. Reverse: full inscription: l'aerostat, nomme le de Flesselles, ... le 19 J[anvi]er 1784
