Token, copper, 35mm diameter. Cornish penny, 1811. (D Cornwall 19 to 24). Issued by John Williams, mining magnate. obverse, Redruth. pumping engine and winding machine. reverse, three industries of copper tin and pilchards. [Issuer Unknown, 1811, 1d. Obverse Pumping engine and horse whim. Reverse Ingots of copper and tin, a fish. Notes The objects depicted on the reverse relate to the county’s main industries of mining and fishing (pilchards and herring). The token was probably for general use in Cornwall.]
