Medal, Railway Laws, France, 1842. Bronze; 113mm diameter, 10mm deep, in original wooden box 140mm diameter [base damaged, cracked almost in half]. Rim legend: cuivre. Obverse: head relief profile to left wearing laurel wreath, Louis Philippe I Roi Des Francais. artist A. Bovy. Reverse: on pedestal of Law of 21 June 1842, an enthroned France with plaque Chemins de Fer, sending Mercury and ?Mars left and right; landscape, four railways to four corners; A. Bovy fecit.
