Two Beard 'Eclipse' lantern slide carriers (3 1/4" x 4 1/4-inch) slides; with original instruction sheet; also one other similar slide carrier

Robert Royou Beard was a British inventor and manufacturer of magic lantern accessories. He developed a regulator which held the gas pressure in dissolving lanterns at the correct levels as well as the Eclipse self-centring slide carrier, which allowed slides to be changed without the operator having to lean over the lantern and also ensured that the screen was never blank.
