One amber glass bottle of 100 Methergin tablets (methylergometrine maleate), in physician's sample box. 32 mm x 23 mm x 52 mm, 35 g.The yellow and maroon printed box reads, ' For Gynaecological and Obstetrical Use/ METHEGRIN/ methylergometrine tartrate/ 100 tablets/ Each tablet contains/ 0.125 mg. of ../.../ Sandoz Products Limited/...' The side panel of the box explains the dosage as ' 1 to 2 tablets, 2 or 3 times daily'. When used in a gynaecological setting, ergometrine serves to stimulate the smooth muscle of the uterus and to slow bleeding after birth. Distrubuted by Sandoz Products Ltd.,Wigmore Street, London and produced in Switerland, 1970-1985.
