Collection of modern ethical pharmaceuticals from the Old Pharmacy, Hexham (Gibson's pharmacy), 1900-1978

Clear glass, circle shaped base with glass stopper and paper label. To contain approximately 24 ounces of morphine hydrochloride solution (liquor morphinae hydrochloridum). Most contents remaining.

Blue glass, rectangle-based, half ribbed bottle, with a paper label, glass stopper and paper seal. Labelled 'Injectio Morphinae Hypodermica, B.P. 1885'; (Hypodermic Injection of Morphine). Manufactured to the British Pharmacopoeia 1885. The bottle labelled 'Poison' and 'Not To Be Taken'. The bottle dates from between 1895-1922.

Clear glass bottle, unribbed, with cork stopper and paper label. Containing approximately 6 ounces of Sulphonal. Sulphonal, otherwise known as sulphonmethane, is a hypnotic and is used for producing long sleep in psychiatric cases and in nervous especially when chloral is contraindicated.

Clear glass bottle, unribbed, with glass stopper and transfer label and paper label. Containing approximately 8 ounces of Sulphonal. Sulphonal, otherwise known as sulphonmethane, is a hypnotic and is used for producing long sleep in psychiatric and in nervous insomnia, especially when chloral is contraindicated.
