1x50 container of Largactil 50mg tablets (chlorpromazine hydrochloride), by May and Baker, 1970-1985

Chlorpromazine hydrochloride is an antipsychotic drug. It treats disorders such as schizophrenia and acute psychotic states. ‘Largactil’ is its brand name. It is known in the US as Thorazine. It is one of the oldest drugs of this type, first prescribed in the mid-1950s. Chlorpromazine hydrochloride can be administered in different forms. These include injection, suppository, suspension, or in tablet form such as this. It has a sedative effect without causing stupor or confusion. It also has an antidepressant effect. It can treat severe anxiety. However, it can have serious side effects and must be withdrawn slowly.

These Largactil 50mg tablets come in a plastic container with ‘child-proof’ lid. They were manufactured by May and Baker Limited.
