Square wooden chest, metal band with carrying handle and lock, contains 10 glass bottles (7 labelled), labelled pewter cannister, 4 labelled glass phials, labelled box, labelled tin, 12 paper packets (6 labelled), and a capillary tube in box. Lid embroidered with Maltese cross. Unknown maker, French, 1700-1850. Accompanying label, reads ' Portable Medicine Chest/ French/ Late XVII Century'
