Bowjection projection television

Projection television sets were popular in the early 1950s, although they had been around before the war. Instead of using a very expensive large cathode ray tube to give a big picture, these sets used a 2 inch high brightness tube to project the image on to a screen (4 foot x 3 foot).
The Bowjection was made by the Rainbow Radio Manufacturing Company, Mincing Lane, Blackburn, Lancashire. First announced in May 1952 and advertised in October 1952 at £175 plus an extra £21 for the special screen, advertisements continued regularly for several years.
