The comings and goings of railway warehouses were subject to strict rules and regulations, as this sign indicates.

It reads:

No Motor or other Self-Propelled Vehicle may enter this Warehouse until permission has been obtained from the Company's Servant in charge. When this has been done, the Vehicle must in common with all other Vehicles take up such a position in the Warehouse as the Company's Representative shall determine.
