Apsley Station Seat

Station seat from the waiting room at Apsley station on the London, MIdland & Scottish Railway, about 1938. The seat is painted in British Rail's 1980s Network SouthEast livery, white with two oblique stripes, one red and one blue.

Station bench from Apsley station, near Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. This seat, in a simple Art Deco style, was installed in the waiting room at Apsley when it was opened by the London, Midland & Scottish Railway in September 1938. It was originally finished in plain wood, but at some time appears to have been painted cream. In the 1980s the bench was repainted in British Rail's Network SouthEast white, red and blue colour scheme when Apsley station came under the control of the newly created sector.
