Orpiment from France

Orpiment is an arsenic sulfide mineral that is a striking yellow or orange colour. This example is sesquisulphide of arsenic containing 61 per cent of arsenic together with arsenious acid. The mineral has been used in medicines and as a pigment historically, but due to the presence of arsenic the mineral is highly toxic.
