Money box harness worn by railway collecting dog. Red. Collecting for Southern Railway Servants Orphanage.

A harness with a collecting box on top was a secure way for railway dogs to collect passengers’ donations. Many of the dogs learnt tricks like holding out paws and welcomed being patted and stroked. The railway collecting dogs raised money for the orphaned children of railway workers killed on duty.
