Poster, London Midland & Scottish Railway, British Industries, Coal by George Clausen, R.A., 1924. Coloured lithograph depicting miners returning home after work. In the background are lines of railway wagons marked "LMS" and "Bolsover", and beyond the colliery pithead, winding gear and smoke drifting from an engine house chimney. Caption beneath, with the letters "LMS" and the company crest. Text in bottom margin reads "LMS R.A. series No 12, David Allen & Sons Ltd. London W etc". Format quad royal. One of a series of sixteen posters by members of the Royal Academy commissioned by the London, Midland & Scottish Railway in 1924.
