Poster, London Midland & Scottish Railway, Glenariff by Norman Wilkinson, about 1935. Coloured lithograph depicting a steep green mountainside, with a patchwork of fields on its lower slopes. There is a tree in the foreground at left and in the background is the Irish Sea. Text: Of all the lovely Antrim glens, Glenariff is Queen. From Parkmore the stream drops by a series of beautiful cascades richly embowered in vivid foliage, down to the bottom of the glen, close to Cushendall on the shores of Red Bay. As the glen widens, a superb view over the Irish Sea opens out, with Kintyre, Ailsa Craig and the Lowlands of Galloway standing out on the horizon. Visit Northern Ireland by the Royal Mail Routes (Heysham, Liverpool or Stranraer), thence to Glenariff by LMS rail and motor, or motor only, almost 100 miles through fresh and unspoilt countryside and along the famous Antrim Coast. Reference ERO 53351. Format quad royal, 50 x 40 ins, 1270 x 1016 mm.
